I Heart Saturdays

Saturdays are for curling up on the floor when you are so tired from the week and having a lovely nap with the sun streaming in through the window.  Poor Little Moo was too tired to even make it to her bed this afternoon.  (excuse the blurry image but you never want to wake a sleeping child)

I also have had lots and lots of fun playing with the wonderful Birch fabric by Lara Cameron.  It has been so lovely to see the success of Lara and the girls at Ink and Spindle.  We really are so lucky in Australia to have such talented textile designers.  

I love the deep red in the screen print and how it co-ordinates with the black/gray denim.  It has been at least six weeks since I have sewn a bag and this was such a lovely way to get back into it.  I'm still trying to find a place that I like to take my photos in my new house.  I have to say that I am struggling with this some what and I am not altogether happy with the light.  I'm sure I'll work it out in time.  But for now this bag has taken up home in my etsy shop.

My sister's 40th Birthday is just around the corner.  I was really struggling with something to get her that she didn't have and that she might use and enjoy.  I ordered her some of these lovely Moo Postcards last week.  They have her address on the back for when she sends them out.  I love all these prints and I hope she is happy with them.  There is nothing more exciting then opening the mail box to see something just for you (that isn't a bill!).  These prints are so sweet and I'm sure she will go on to make her friends and family very happy when she sends them off.   

Super Girl

Back in January I blogged about my dilemmas photographing my eldest on the trampoline in this post.  Maybe choosing an easier subject would be a solution but I do really enjoying watching Cait and it is a challenge to photograph her doing something she loves so much.  This clever BrisStyle girl gave me the idea of hopping up on the trampoline with her but to be honest I haven't been quite brave enough to (working on the whole brave thing).  But this is the latest photo that was the best of the last session.  

The lovely Cait is super in more than her ability to fly.  I know I'm biased being her Mum and all but she really is a great kid.  I took the littlest Moo out for a few hours this morning  while Cait stayed at home with my Mum and  I came home to this note: 

"Dear Mum,

I have cleaned all three rooms, washed the dishes, cleaned the fridge, kitchen, art corner, pantry, tea area, fish and skool bag area, both bathrooms, your room"

God Bless her cotton socks.  All without being asked and everything.  How very spoilt am I.

Fabulous Fun

Yesterday I took the girls and my Mum to the State Library to see 31 Circus Acts in 30 Minutes. Oh my this was so much fun. It was fast, funny and very entertaining. The performers were all hugely talented and put on such a great show. The performance went so fast and was so great there was no time for boredom or fidgets. Its on till the 25th of January, so don't miss out.

There was heaps of fun activities after woulds at the State Library all with the circus theme. The girls made crowns and took part in a Grand Parade. We also tried our hands at juggling and plate spinning. There was also hula hooping but to maintain my eldests non embarrassing Mum status I left that activity for the kids.

Talking of my eldest, she turns 11 next month. (Oh my the teenage years are around the corner). How can my little one be this old! She originally asked for a sleepover party with 12 friends. OMG, OMG, OMG. I have managed to talk her down to Sunday afternoon tea instead. How I ever did that I don't know. Holly molly I think I would need to take some prescription medicine to deal with a sleepover party. We have however decided to order a cake from the The Cupcake Company. Below is a picture of one of their creations. I'm a crap baker, I've tried and failed on many an occasion. So hand it over to the experts I say.

I am going to make a little purse for each of the party attendees. Any ideas of cute, fun, easy to make and of course cool goodies to put inside would be greatly appreciated.

This is what Sundays are for, I hope you all enjoy! How we are going to enjoy our Sunday: go bowling, find something yummy for lunch, print some crazy photos of the holidays, play cards, jump on the trampoline, watch a dvd, skip, catch a bus and maybe eat a little chocolate. Who knows what other adventures will be thrown into the mix.

Thanks For The Smiles

Thank you for all your lovely comments on my give away post. I came home to three over tired very cranky and just more than a wee bit naughty girls last night. To top it off I had a bit of a crap day at work. So thank you all for putting a smile on my face . Much appreciated. I'm currently having a disagreement with my sewing machine so I'm hoping that a warm cup of tea and some nice company on the crafty blog scene will fix all my woes.

These pictures are of my littlest. They were taken down at the local creek when we were catching tadpoles. They had so much fun. I was sitting a fair distance away with the zoom on so I could catch the excitement and the giggles. These photos are some of my favourite. Looking at them again reminds me that the girls can be so much fun and the grumps do pass.

Just Perfect

Look at the great note book I picked up this morning from Jellygnite's shop on etsy. This is just perfect for my youngest moo who is doing dinosaurs at school this term. It will be great for her to take on her trip to the museum for drawings and little notes. Just like the pirate theme we don't have many dinosaur inspired paraphernalia, so this will be fantastic. It will also be nice to put away and keep for her when she is older so she can look back at what she wrote and drew when she was six.

Today I'm taking the girls shopping for their summer clothes, hopefully we won't have to many disagreements about choices in clothes. Maybe find somewhere nice for lunch too. I love a girls day out.

Luck She's Cute

Above is a picture of my dog Lilly yesterday afternoon. It was one of those moments you know you just have to grab the camera (lucky it was in easy reach of stash shooting). It is not the best photo in the world because I had to snap it through the glass door so I didn't wake her up. She was sound asleep with her paw wrapped around her teddy. Both my dogs adore their teddies. There shall be no more sleeping today though because after her marathon nap yesterday afternoon she spent the entire night barking at anything or anyone who came within 50 metres of the house. Needless to say I am a touch cross with her this morning after very limited sleep.

Little Bit of Time

I seem to live in a time warp. So much to do but so little time but this afternoon the girls and I have been blessed with an afternoon free. Total and utter bliss. Time to play and sew and heat up the oven for a herb and chilli lamb roast (yum!) with crispy roast potatoes.

I had the time to work on the little bag above a bit of a change in the design of my current market tote. Not quite as big as I would like but still big enough to pop in a loaf of bread and a few esentials. I love how the red daisy fabric goes with the calico and denim. The denim at the bottom is nice and sturdy and should stop the bottom of the bag from looking gruby too quick. I shall be placing it in my etsy store in the not to distant future.

We also had fairy bread for afternoon tea mmmm. The only problem is I now have and thousands everywhere. Even in between the keys on the laptop, which is makes typing this post rather difficult.

Lucky us, Frank the Super from the Mirabel Auctions is coming to our house to live. We are all waiting keenly for our favourite Australia Post van to deliver him.

Bits and Bobs

Meet Me at Mikes is doing a week of Golden Books (yay!). Above are some pickies of my fave - Doctor Dan the Bandage Man. The top pick shows the mint condition, the two bottom pickies are the pickies of my very own book after much lovin. I adored this book and I think it my of started my minor obsession with band aids and my then progression into nursing (just so I could justify my band aid use). I use to beg for a "mixed" pack of band aids just so I could lay my pudgy finger on the much wanted dot band aids. Now I can go to work and happily lay dots on as many unsuspecting patients as I like. (Next time a nurse places a "dot" on your arm with wierd little happy smile on her face it might just be me.)

Yesterday Little Mary Moo's fish tank had a referb. A full spring clean was given, new plants purchased and a lovely rock added. Lola (named after "Charlie & Lola"), the angel fish seems very happy with with the new additions and more so with actually being able to see out. We have also added a bristle nose sucker fish who is oh so cute but seems to be missing in action this morning. The girl at the pet shop said the sucker fish should keep down the algae, I hope so because I'm not so great with keeping up the regular cleaning of the tank.

This is a picture of my littlest Moo. On Thursday evening she gleefully told me that she had to go to school as a pirate for the last day of school - don't you love those last minute school requests! So we had a bit of a scramble for a costume. Being in a female only house we don't own a great deal of pirate paraphernalia. I put together a very dodgy eye patch late in the evening made out denim and gingham and teamed it with a Canteen scarf, striped red top and a denim pinny. Her big sister even made her a sword (after much confusion between the difference of a "saw" and a "sword". Yes she nearly went to school as the handy man pirate). Well we made it with just minutes to spare before before boarding the bus. The eye patch and the sword have yet to be seen again.

The girls and I are off to the Sunshine Coast for a few days. My eldest is competing in a gymnastics comp and I have to say I am very pleased with the choice of venues as it is a lovely excuse to get away for a few days. There is plenty of sunshine today and it should be nice and warm for a swim - for the girls, I shall spare the world from the torture of my post winter body as it is far from a pretty sight.

Brisbane Vintage Fun

Last school holidays Mum & I took the girls to the Tramway Museum at Ferny Grove. Anyone looking for a fun trip down Brisbane's history, this place is for you.

The craftmenship and talent that has been put into restoring the trams is absolutely amazing. They are so beautiful and such a lovely way to show the girls a bit of the way life use to be. My Mum grew up in Brisbane so she thoroughly enjoyed telling the girls about all the things her and her seven brothers and sisters would get up to on the trams (some tales just a wee bit naughty).

The men that gave the tours on the trams were so knowlegable and passionate. You can't but help be a little infected by their love for what they do. We got to ride on all the trams they had there in working condition and were given a very interesting history about the tram's "life". We ended up hopping on and off the different trams for two hours!

The Tramway Museum is at Ferny Grove and is open from 12 - 4pm every Sunday. We had such a lovely time but I can only imagine how excited families with little boys who are bits of train buffs would be.

Wonderful Winter

Winter in Brisbane is gorgeous. The days are warm but with a touch of freshness to the air. Perfect for trips to the park. The girls are all on school holidays so there isn't a lot of sewing to be done but lots of time to spend in the park as you can see from the picture above of my two little ones.

I'm starting to get all my bags and purses ready to try and sell on Etsy. Very exciting. I'm lucky to have three harsh critics on my side!
